Australia means many things to many people. Most of these opinions will vary to some degree or other, but one thing has remained a constant over many years, it is a country that holds a fascination for many thousands, if not millions of us.
This interest may be just a passing or fleeting glance. After all, the media attention on Australia over
recent years has been immense. So it is only natural that the public's attention may be drawn to
Australia. Maybe we view Australia as somewhere that is a viable choice when it comes to our annual
holiday. Two or three weeks spent sunbathing on the other side of the world. What could be better?

However, many thousands of us look upon Australia as an achievable goal, a goal that will enable us to live a life that is both fulfilling and happy. This may be a somewhat rather obvious statement to make, but Australia is not the UK. Far too many people look upon Australia as a new country where the only difference to the UK is that the sun always shines. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just because they speak the same language, (well nearly), and drive on the same side of the road does not mean that you can compare Australia in any way to the UK.
The words 'Culture Shock' can in no way encompass what Australia has in store for you. Its people, its culture, weather, landscape, attitudes, political makeup, We assure you, will come as a complete surprise. No matter if you have visited on numerous occasions, no matter how many relatives and friends tell you what it is like, no matter how many books you have read on the subject, Australia will astonish, shock, frighten, surprise and astound you. If we had a penny for each time someone has said to us 'But in England ....................', we would indeed be millionaires, many times over.
Population of Australia 21,262,641, July 2009. Nearly one and a quarter million residents of Australia were born in the UK. Each year the Australian Immigration Authorities receive nearly 1.8 million enquiries from prospective migrants.

We are not for one second saying that you should cut all ties with the UK, far from it. What we are saying is that Australia is Australia and the UK is the UK. They are not comparable in anyway, shape or form, nor should they ever be compared to each other. We have over the years met many thousands of successful, and unsuccessful migrants to Australia, and each and everyone of them to a person has had their fair share of problems. Of course it goes without saying that these problems were as diverse as the individual themselves, but nonetheless they all had their fair share of worries and concerns.
We have heard stories that were both heartbreaking and sad. Genuine, good people who had made one
mistake only. And that one mistake was to keep comparing Australia to the UK. Of the people who
have returned to the UK that we have met over the years we would ascertain that at least seventy percent of them regretted to 'some' degree their decision to return to the UK.
So in conclusion all we are trying to say is simply this. Do not be under the misguided opinion that
Australia will be perfect in every sense. It takes time to assimilate and settle in any new country, and
you have to accept that at times this transition will be extrmeley difficult for all those concerned.
